SAFETY & SECURITY UPDATE–As of May 13, 2013
The events that occurred in Boston have given us all pause, not only for those who lost their lives and were injured, but also for the change that will happen with large-scale events in cities all over the U.S.
Please be assured that the safety and security of all of our attendees at any Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh event is, and remains, our top priority. We have already been in contact with our law enforcement partners including the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Public Safety Office, Department of Homeland Security, Allegheny County Police, Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office and the FBI. On top of this, we have participated in numerous conference calls with other event organizers and the City’s Department of Homeland Security.
We have a comprehensive Safety and Evacuation Plan already in place that is updated each year. We have been advised that some parts of the plan are confidential, but as information becomes available, we will be sharing that with our volunteers, staff and board members, and incorporating that into our training sessions as necessary.
We are working proactively with our law enforcement partners to ensure that we continue to produce an event that our community, sponsors and donors can be proud to be involved with.
